From our friends at GEEARS:
The television show Sesame Street has touched the lives of countless children for decades here in the United States and around the world. Many of those children grew up to have children who watch Sesame Workshop programming today. GEEARS: Georgia Early Education Alliance for Ready Students is excited to present another installment of the Speaker Series: Conversations on Early Childhood. This is a virtual event where parents and caregivers can learn once again with those at Sesame, and in turn learn more with our children. Please join us for a conversation with Dr. Rosemarie Truglio, as she speaks with GEEARS Board Chair Stephanie Blank and you about her latest book on parenting, her work at Sesame Workshop, and how it all ties in raising children here in Georgia. Dr. Truglio will share with us her experiences from her work socializing and educating children through media, and share new ideas from her book that parents can use to become even better educators for their children. We will also connect these handy ideas to resources and groups already here in our State, so parents can get support in taking action. Join us for this free virtual event, September 15th, from 2:00 – 3:00 pm EDT, to talk with Dr. Rosemarie Truglio about how Georgia can better learn, grow, and play with our kids!

Sometimes, there's nothing better than a book to help us understand the world around us. That's why the Emory Global Health Initiative held a COVID-19 Children's EBook Competition to help provide information on the pandemic in an age-appropriate way. To check out the winning submission, click the picture above! You can also see the creative honorable mention books here. Which one is your favorite? What did you learn or feel?
Today is a beautiful day! It feels like summer is almost here - the sun is shining, flowers are blooming, and trees are swaying gently in the wind. That's why we're loving these lessons from our friends at Out Teach!
There are cool outdoor experiences for kids from Kindergarten to 12th grade - and we think that some of our *super smart* Pre-K students are ready for these lessons too. Check them out and let us know what you think! Did you know that our friends at the Fulton County Library do a storytime on Facebook Live every day at 11am? AND that you can get library cards online? PLUS, you can sign up for the Summer Reading Program now? Oh, and ALSO, they have free continuing education classes on parenting, early education, and so much more!
Make sure you check out all their great resources! Did you know that today is the *fiftieth* annual Earth Day? How are you celebrating? We love this idea from our friends at the Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning for a scavenger hunt! Share some pictures with us on Twitter, Facebook, or in the comments below and let us know what GREEN things you find!
We are so excited to be able to share this series of resources from our amazing partners at the Alliance Theater! Your APS Pre-K student likely had an Alliance Theater teaching artist visit them this year. They learned lots of amazing things, starting with the Actor's Tools! Check out the step-by-step guide that the Alliance put together, just for us! Ask your child if he or she remembers the Actor Tools Chant - and watch the short video above for a quick refresher. Make sure to come back later this week for a second clip about Safety Bubbles - you can also visit the Alliance website for additional resources in the meantime. We'd love to see your student practice the Actor Tools chant - feel free to drop a video in the comments or on Facebook or Twitter!
Thanks to our friends at the Children's Museum of Atlanta for sharing information about tomorrow's concert in celebration of Earth Day!
