Our Pre-Kindergarten teachers & paraprofessioals have been busy laying the foundation for a successful and productive school year. We appreciate you! Here are a few important early learning data updates for August 31, 2018:
The 2018-2019 school year is officially underway and in a couple of weeks we'll be sifting through all types of data and information on where students are academically, socially and emotionally. In an effort to bring the data alive to help teachers and parents make data-informed decisions about their students' learning, the Office of Early Learning has launched a district-wide campaign to promote and utilize in-class data trackers & bulletin boards that display student progress and achievement on four main Work Sampling Online focus performance indicators:
For more information, check out the complete data tracker rubric here. There are many fun and unique ways to display a data tracker in the classroom. Here are a couple of examples from two APS Pre-Kindergarten teachers (left: Ms. Bergstrom's and Mrs. Edwards data tracker @ Garden Hills ES; right: Mrs. Leahy's data wall @ Fickett ES): If you need to more ideas, head over to Pinterest for some inspiration. If you'd like additional support, please reach out to the Early Learning Data Strategist by completing the contact form below. Check back here in the coming weeks to see more examples of data trackers in action! We are excited to launch our Data Dig Blog for the Office of Early Learning at Atlanta Public Schools. Check out this month's updates below! Attendance: The image below highlights the APS Pre-K sites that have achieved an average attendance rate of 95% or higher from August to March of this school year! Congratulations to these schools!
